As a business owner, we’ve come across some great and some not-so-great apps and programs over the years. Here’s a short list of the ones we use on a regular basis and love.
MailChimp – Often called Monkey Mail, this program has evolved greatly over the 7 or so years we’ve been using it. It used to be just an email program for bulk emails and newsletters. They’ve added some great marketing integrations including marketing automation that really make email marketing easy and professional.
Canva – Canva makes it easy to create beautiful, professional looking graphics for your blog, email and social media campaigns. The best part is, it’s free! Canva has free graphics and paid ones so you can take your graphics to the next level.
LastPass – LastPass is my favorite password storage program. There are a lot on the market. Last Pass offers paid service for multi-device syncing or free service for a single device. The single device options works across most browsers on your one device. We currently use it on Chrome and Firefox.
PDF Element 6 – This is a great program for all your PDF needs if you don’t want to shell out the $150 for Adobe Pro’s annul subscription for a comparable product. At $99 for a single computer, this is a great alternative to the Adobe PDF software options.
Screenhunter 7.0 Free – We do a ton of screen capture work at ASG, sending walk-throughs to clients for new software or grabbing a client’s logo from a document or website. This tool is a quick and easy way to capture and save those screen shots to your computer. Oh, and did we mention it’s free? They also offer premium packages with m ore features.
Survey Monkey – No relation to MailChimp, Survey Monkey allows users to create professional surveys for data collection, customer feedback and more. There are limitations on the free account but for small businesses, this is usually not an issue. There are also paid monthly packages which lift most of those limitations.
Carbonite – With all the cloud storage options out there, we prefer Carbonite. They have great prices, they rate well and the program runs quietly in the background.
